Meaning: I attended an 8-hour seminar on contemplative prayer by Sr. Mary Nieves, a 74 year old Carmelite nun. She kept the audience laughing the whole time.
She said that when she does these kinds of talks, she never knows what she’s going to say and she is blessed with a great sense of humor.

A Nightingale

You are a doer of good.

Meaning: This refers to The Nightingale and the Rose by Oscar Wilde.
The story is about a nightingale that sacrifices its life to get a rose in order to help a young man win a girl’s heart. In the end, the girl rejects the rose because it did not match her dress and the young man throws the rose away and moves on.
It is said that this story parallels the self-sacrifice of Christ who gave up His life, even if the ones helped are unworthy.
